Spend 12 full days experiencing the beauty of France and special textile related venues. Arrive into Strasbourg for 2 nights and enjoy a guided walking tour, including the magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral. Enjoy a private group Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant in Strasbourg and get to know your fellow travellers. Continue to Melay for 3 nights, stopping for lunch and a guided walking tour of Riquewhir situated between the peaks of the Vosges mountains and the Plain of Alsace. Riquewihr is a medieval town in the heart of the Alsatian vineyards, classified among the most beautiful villages in France.

Arrive in Melay and settle in for your 3 night stay, including an all-inclusive, private, 2-day workshop with Kristen Salgarollo (Belgium artist) in the Salle des fetes Mairie (Chateau, Town Hall). Enjoy all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) during your stay, as well as a private trunk show by guest quilter Jeltje van Essen (The Netherlands). Travel to Nantes, stopping for lunch and a ramble through Tours before your 3 night stay. Enjoy 2 full days at the Pour l'Amour du Fil Quilt Show, the meeting place for textile enthusiasts of the entire world. More than 600 curated works illustrating all textile arts are displayed, as well as a commercial space where 80 of the most beautiful stores specializing in thread and textile arts are gathered. Enjoy a guided walking tour while in Nantes before setting off for Paris. Travel to Paris, stopping in Le Mans for lunch and a guided walking tour, before arriving for your 5 night stay in the authentic village of Montmartre. With its cobbled streets, stunning Basilica, artists, bistros, Montmartre is full of charm! Perched on the top of a small hill in the most famous Parisian district, Montmartre has lost none of its village atmosphere that appealed to the artists of the 19th and 20th centuries.
During your stay in Paris, enjoy a guided tour of the Louvre Museum, Arc du Triomphe, and Museum de Montmartre. Experience a private textile walking tour as you discover the celebrated Merceries of Paris, brimming with the highest quality French ribbons, yarns, threads, beads, sequins, gems, and buttons. A paradise for any textile enthusiast, these boutiques are a joy to visit with shelves, drawers, jars, and display cases overflowing with sumptuous, colourful and glistening treasures.
Enjoy two full days of creativity with expert instructor, Kristel Salgarollo. Learn from the expert as she leads you through her special techniques as you create your own patchwork piece. Machine piecing, hand applique, and finishing embellishments, using specially curated fabrics and supplies (all provided). You will be pampered by host Jeltje van Essen (https://www.facebook.com/JeltjeAt100rozen), as our private workshop will be held in Salle de fêtes (town hall), and includes snacks, refreshments and a catered luncheon each day.
The Pour l'Amour du Fil Quilt Festival is an annual celebration of antique, traditional and contemporary textile works created by thread artists from all over the world. The theme for the 2023 edition is The Netherlands from Every Angle, which will include exhibitions from the Dutch Quilt Guild, The Dutch Modern Quilt Guild, and Dutch textile artist Willyne Hammerstein, Hilde Hoogwaerts, Segolaine Schweitzer, Janine Alers.
